Derek W. Simpson

Huntsville native Derek Simpson has practiced law in his hometown since 1995. He holds both undergraduate and law degrees from the University of Alabama.

Over the years, Derek has served the Madison County Bar Association in numerous leadership capacities and maintained memberships in the Alabama Trial Lawyers’ Association and The American Association of Trial Lawyers. From 2006-2007, he served as President of the American Inns of Court.

Derek’s law practice concentrates on automobile wrecks, construction accidents, trucking litigation, workers’ compensation, products liability and premises liability.

Derek is a certified NFL Sports Agent and represents several players in the NFL.

Derek received the rating of “AV”, the highest rating available for professional excellence, ethics and ability, from judges and peers in a review by the trusted resource Martindale Hubbell.

In 2011, Derek was inducted into the National Trial Lawyers, Top 100 Attorneys.

Derek was elected President-Elect of the Madison County Bar Association in 2016. He served as President in 2017.

Derek and his wife, Shannon, have three children. He and his family are members of First United Methodist Church.
