Legal Times – Issue 5

Dear Clients, Happy February! Unless you have been out of the country or under a rock, retailers moved from Christmas right into Valentine’s Day. While I tend to think this is a marketing scheme invented by the chocolate and card companies, my female staff and friends (and wife) disagree. In our culture, the “image” of love is portrayed as one thing, while the “reality” of love is certainly something else. The One person to walk this earth who knew the true definition of love put it this way: 1 Corinthians 13:1. “If I speak in the tongues of men or of angels, but do not have love, I am only a resounding gong or a clanging cymbal. 2 If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have a faith that can move mountains, but do not have love, I am nothing. 3 If I give all I possess to the poor and give over my body to hardship that I may boast, but do not have love, I gain nothing. 4 Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. 5 […]

Dear Clients, Happy New Year from Warren & Simpson and Welcome to 2014! I hope you and your families have had a wonderful holiday season and that you are well on your way to keeping all of those New Year’s resolutions! One resolution I have this year, and wish for you to join me in, is to make it a priority to drive without distractions. Distracted driving accounts for hundreds of thousands of motor vehicle accidents every year. One of our clients, David Little, and his family survived a serious wreck caused by a driver who was texting. David has graciously agreed to allow us to publish his story so that others might realize the serious dangers of distracted driving. David is a financial advisor at BlueCreek Investment Partners, LLC. He is active in several community service organizations, and is a great person. David also devotes a substantial amount of his time to speaking, writing, and educating people about the dangers of distracted driving. After you read David’s story, visit the website for more information about distracted driving, and take the pledge to protect lives by never texting or talking on the phone while driving; to speak out if […]

In July of 2013, Warren & Simpson, P.C. marked its tenth anniversary. For the past ten years, I have been fortunate to be a part of a law firm that has helped thousands of people. Our firm has been committed to helping not only our clients, but also the community as a whole. We work closely with the Lincoln Village Preservation Corporation and the Madison County Volunteer Lawyers program to provide free legal representation and also financial support. In August of 2013, the Alabama State Bar Association recognized Warren & Simpson, P.C., with the statewide pro bono award. We are honored to be recognized in this way and we will continue to serve the pro bono needs of our community. You can learn more about these great organizations on our website. As the holiday season approaches, there will be many opportunities for celebrating and gift-giving. My hope is that you will also take a moment to “pay it forward” by helping someone who may be less fortunate. There are so many worthy […]

Dear Clients, I can’t believe Thanksgiving is almost here! Warren & Simpson has much to be thankful for this year. We have seen many cases reach resolution and many clients helped in a magnitude of ways. We were honored to be able to help these clients with their legal needs. From all of us here at Warren & Simpson, Thank You! As we enter into this Thanksgiving holiday, I hope each of us will take the time to reflect on the many blessings we have as a nation. As Americans, one of our greatest blessings is the nation in which we live. I’m reminded of a line in a song we sing in church from time to time. “Count your many blessings, name them one by one. Count your many blessings, see what God has done.” Sometimes we don’t realize how blessed we are until we count our blessings one by one. It doesn’t take but a quick look at other countries to see how truly blessed we are!! While many things need to be “fixed” in Washington, let us choose this Thanksgiving season to focus on the things we can be thankful for…the freedom to have a voice! -Barton […]
